MoDOT is seeking input for a new Executive Director, and we believe there are some crucial opportunities for our next director to build a more holistic transportation system for Missourians. Learn more below.

After 9 years in the role, MoDOT's Executive Director Patrick McKenna announced he will step down. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission [MHTC] placed Deputy Director Ed Hassinger in the role of Interim Director, and the MHTC is now charged to find a new director to carry MoDOT forward.

MoDOT opened up a public comment period to determine "important credentials and personal attributes key to the [Executive Director] position," and MRT offers these suggestions:

  • A demonstrated record of effectively engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly groups serving ‘vulnerable road users’ such as those with disabilities, transit users, and cycling groups;
  • An ability to effectively align existing and forthcoming MoDOT planning efforts, and to bring a creative vision that builds upon Missourians’ increasing desire and need to access multimodal transportation options;
  • An ability to work collaboratively with neighboring state DOTs, particularly Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Tennessee;
  • A commitment to collaboration with other Missouri state agencies and state agency planning efforts (i.e., MO DHSS’ Master Plan on Aging) to develop innovative solutions to address cross-cutting issues that impact Missourians’ quality of life, such as safe access to quality education, employment, food, recreation, and medical care.

You have until 8 AM on September 3rd to share your comments with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission! Visit the link below:
